Sometimes Tuesdays Feel Like Mondays
| There is a lot of crawling on Mom today. |
Sunday night Andrew, our oldest son, came to me with the comment, "Oh I just hate that Sunday night feeling." My mother-in-law and I shared a chuckle, because for stay at home moms everywhere, we love that Sunday night feeling.
Mondays mean a return to schedule and organization.
Mondays are a return of the "normal" work of a mother. We find a rhythm and we work within it.
I can handle schedule and routine.
I pretend to shun it, but it is a welcome port in the storms of my life.
However, after a busy Monday yesterday, which included William's first Cross Country meet (and a forgotten diaper bag, which contained my camera...leading to not only a lack of photos but a very cranky twin), I came home to realize that BOTH babies are now teething.
Neither baby is taking it in stride.
I am either coming down with a cold or suffering from allergies, or both.
Sunday night both girls slept through the night for the first time ever.
Today, they are exactly eight months old, and they slept more like one week olds last night.
I was NOT a good mother to our sons this morning.
So, today feels like a Monday. But not like a Mom Monday, with relief and predictability. Today feels like a Monday for a teenager, who tried to fit too much weekend into his weekend.
How do you handle the unexpected bumps in your routines? Do you handle it with grace, or do you moan and sigh. I'll let you guess how I handle it. (Let me give you a hint, it does NOT rhyme with race.)
The good news is, tomorrow is another day! And I get another chance to be the calm port in my family's storm. With God's help, I'll do better!
