What Doesn't Kill you Makes you Stronger? Right?

I have an idea.

The next time someone really, really, really gets on my nerves, I'm going to bring her the twins, while they are teething, and not sleeping, and crying for 24 hours straight.

Because, folks, enduring crying babies, for 24 straight hours, is torture. Even if said babies are cute.

Tack on a two hour clinic visit.

My mother's intuition INSISTED that something had to be WRONG with Emily. Elizabeth can cry 12 hours a day, and we won't blink an eye. That girl is a bit of a complainer, like her mom. But Emily is our charmer. She smiles at everyone. She only cries if she really needs our attention, and then she stops.

Of course the official diagnosis is the ubiquitous virus. Which makes sense, school has been back in session for a month. Welcome home, germies. Her ears are beautiful, her chest is clear, her throat is red (but she HAS been crying for 24 hours!). I got to witness how fun it is to get a urine sample from an infant. (Boys tend not to get urinary tract infections, so we never had to mess with THAT before!)

The good news is that both babies passed out around midnight last night and slept, like babies for much of the night. I got some sleep, they got some sleep, and we are all smiles today.

Meanwhile, I have four older children who earned a batch of chocolate chip cookies today. Life with a sleep deprived mom sucks. There is no other word.
